Einschreibung/Registration

Now I may officially participate in the World Championships! FAI-Jury-Member Agust Gudmunsson from Iceland checked my licenses, showed me my qualifications and he confirmed that I may compete.
In the meantime also Ecki Schröter, our team doctor arrived, as well as Rosi. Unfortunately, Jamie won´t compete on our team, so we will only be five this time. Altogether that makes a sadly small group of 16 female competitors, the smallest worlds ever. Some might be scared of towing, but for many it´s just the costs of an overseas comp that they can´t afford, since many hanggliding associations can´t even afford to pay their pilots entry fees. A pity to see how many billions are spent on the soccer world cup...
The German team is extremely lucky to have such great support by our hanggliding association, the DHV, who pays for our entry fees (725$ per pilot), airfare, retrieval and a team doctor (who saved a few lives in other comps already)/assistant. We happily pay for the rest of the travel expenses by ourselves.
Tomorrow evening we will have the opening ceremony, the competition starts on Thursday.
